11.19.17 The tale of the Six Star Uber Drivers

For those of us that have taken Uber – you know there can be a super mixed bag of drivers.  Some are silent, some are awkward AF, and some are just awesome.  Sometimes, when I get synced up with an Uber driver, and their score is in the lower 4’s – you know that you might have a gem coming to pick you up.  In my experience, its very intermittent to have awesome Uber drivers all weekend…Well – we crossed the threshold this week!  3/3 on absolutely Epic Uber drivers.

But on to the good stuff…we kicked off Friday 11/17/17 at Tivoli Brewing company.  It’s my buddies Bday weekend and he got us tickets to the Nuggets game.  This brewery is right across the street from the stadium, so it makes for a good hangout spot before the game.  Tivoli is pretty rad – it’s the oldest brewery in Denver and was opened in 1859 – Closed in 1969 – and reopened in 2015.  Beers were probably five cents when this place first opened– it blows my mind in Denver that some places will charge 6 bucks for a PBR these days.  I digress though, this brewery has great history which adds to the ambiance of the brewery when you head in for a beer.  It is in the student union of the Metro State University campus.  Wait…is the beer included in the meal plan?  How do you graduate from there?  Definitely would have been a challenge for me in my younger years to get work done with great beer on campus…good luck

The Nuggets game was a good time – I haven’t been to a game for a while.  We enjoyed our 11.25$ dales pale ale – that’s right 11.25$ – Hot diggity dog.  I never noticed the squeaky shoes on the court, until Kim pointed out that she can’t stand that sound.  They squeak all the frickin time…basketball will never be the same.

Saturday 11/18/19 was a birthday festivus for my good buddy Bryson.  We headed over to his man cave and rocked out some whiskey and ping pong…and continued the process throughout the night.  His wife got him an automatic ping pong serve thing – thing was awesome!  I suck at ping pong, but I make up for it with good beer drinking.  Even though I am just as bad with liquid courage, I am a little less humble when I lose.  We also played Wits and Wagers – if you haven’t played this game – it is such a fun time with a group of friends.  I’m not a huge board game guy – but we have been playing this one as a groupf for a while!  Our Uber home that night was this hilarious dude that had us rolling in the back seat – I didn’t get his name – I’m going to call him Steve – so…Steve – you are the man!

Sunday 11/19/17 was kicked off at Red Rocks Amphitheater – this place is truly amazing.  Such an awesome atmosphere for concerts and the hiking is so beautiful.  We are very lucky to be a short drive away from this epic place.   On the weekends, people are working out, running, situps, pushups, inside the amphitheater.  There are some hardcore workout classes going on a well – #Idigahike #butnotthatintense

After a little sweat – a little hiking – we headed to this absolutely hidden gem name 49th State.  Bloodies are just made differently in Minnesota.  You get cheese, beef sticks, pickle juice, etc.  People take that shit real seriously out there.  Here in Denver, we seem to take our beer a lot more seriously.  But this bloody mary they are sporting at 49th state brought a single tear to my eyes.  It had the cheese, It had the sausage, it had the pickl-cini homade Vodka – they called it the hair of the bear bloody mary and it was awesome!  Kim and I will be back to this place again for sure.

Then we headed to Caution Brewing Company – they still had a pumpkin beer on tap – so we enjoyed that.  My favorite beer there is the Card Your Mom – definitely a must try if you head to Caution.

Caution Brewing Company.jpgAfter Caution we made our way to our top 3 favorite breweries in the state.  Strange is a short walk away from Sports Authority Field – so many people stop here before the game to get delicious beer.  This place does not disappoint.  I have tried a couple of their beers, but one in particular is my absolute favorite.  Cherry Kriek tastes like a cherry pie – a very, very, very good cherry pie.  This place has such a great vibe, the beertenders are just frickin rad, and the beer is always good.  When people come to visit us in Denver, we will always take them to Strange!

Our final stop of the evening was a Platte Park Brewing Company.  They were showing the end of the Broncos game…which was a complete disaster again.  #gladImnotahardcorefan #itsbeenabitrough – the brewery is great though.  Nestled in a cool neighborhood that has older brick houses, that would have been totally affordable 10 years ago.  Now – probably in the low 900’s – just swipe it!  My favorite beer here is the Madagascan Vanilla on Nitro.  Tastes like dessert and I am fat kid always.  Give me sweet beers and I am in heaven.  Kim tried the pumpkin, which was also delicious – and we mashed some great tacos from the truck out front.  #foodtrucksarealwaysgood
