Baere Brewing Company

We kicked off our holiday week at Baere Brewing Company.  Not only did this place have great beers all around (the entire flight was outstanding) – it also had a super relaxing vibe.  There was a band playing blue grass in the background and Kim and I were people watching like a bunch of champs.  These guys opened on July 5th, 2014 – and remain a small brewery that cranks out great beer.  Really enjoyed this location.  We then continued down the street to another gem of a brewery.

Black Project Spontaneous & Wild Ales

I really haven’t begun to dive into the Sour scene that has become very rampant here in the Denver beer scene…well…after this trip – I’m in.  The beers were great – I love fruitier beers, but never crossed over the fruit / sour barrier.  Yum!  Kim and I bother enjoyed the Magic Lantern – which was a salted sour – Wow!

Thursday November 23rd (Thanksgiving!)

After sleeping in for a bit – we made our way to Sloan’s Lake for our own 5k “Turkey Trot”  This was Kim’s first 5k and she handled it like a champ!  We named the run the dong 5k because of the…ambiance – LOL.   Grist Brewing Company was opened today – so we headed to their first location to watch some football and enjoy a beer.  Thanksgiving was awesome this year for both Kim and I.  It was our first Thanksgiving together, and very much a relaxing holiday as it is intended to be.

Vision Quest

Kim’s friend, Jenny, made it to Denver from Minneapolis.  After checking out the dispensary scene, we took her on a quest to Boulder, CO and stopped at vision quest.  Kim and I had been here earlier at the beginning of the year.  I have to say, their beer was awesome!  The small brewery was hopping with a ton of people and the staff was super friendly.  I am always amazed at the great people we continue to meet on this wonderful exploration of all things beer.  After vision quest, we headed south back to Arvada, CO and Denver Beer Company’s second location.

Denver Beer Company

This is one of our favorite spots, the beers is great, a food truck is actually in the brewery…so I guess it’s a restaurant…and the staff is seriously so frickin awesome.  We ran into the beertender that has been there many times before.  Super laid back, definitely smokes something…if not weed…love and happiness…but he chatted us up for a while.  Jenny was getting hit on by pretty much 3 dudes while were in there, so that was fun to people watch.  After that, we headed back home since I have been rocking Saturday overtime at work…gotta earn that cash for brews!

And that Denver Sky!  What a great place to be in this world #gethoffyourassandliveIMG_1740.JPG

Saturday November 25th

First and foremost, had to get that tree up!  It definitely needs fun ornaments and what not…we’ve got a Target run in our future.

Locavore

We stuck in our neck of the woods out in Englewood and headed to Locavore Brewery.  Cool vibe, I had a super boozy cask ale that was not in my wheel house.  I definitely had a little buzz leaving, but that beer wasn’t good.  Kim had the blackberry wit that we love  – after a beer or two here we headed to breck farmhouse for some grub and beer.

Breckenridge Farmhouse

Breck sold out…we get it…I would too for 1Billion dollars (insert Austin Powers quote)…their beer is good, but dude…the food here is ridiculous.  We had the green chili Mac and Cheese.  Green chili is a Colorado thing…and it is glorious.  Then – Jenny got the peanut butter pie, my mouth is watering typing right now… holy shit balls !!!

Sunday November 26th

Crooked Stave

Sunday was Jenny’s last day in Denver – so we got after it.  Jenny doesn’t drink a ton of beer, but seemed to like the sours.  So we headed to one, if not the one, of the premier sour breweries in Denver.  This brewery is in a building called the source..,.Cool market vibe – selling cheese and wine, etc.  But we were here for the beer.  There are so many sours to choose from, we each grabbed one and ran with it.  Very delicious.

Blue Moon

Right down the street is blue moons Rhino brewery.  Blue moon (owned by coors) seriously makes great beer at this brewery that is only here.  Not distributed.  This place is big, but we enjoyed the beers – we have been getting the Iced Coffee Stout for a while and the growler fills were 9$…hello???  9$ – that’s awesome.

Strange

We had to take Jenny to Strange for some Cherry Kriek (see two weekends ago) this is one of our top 5 favorite breweries.

Dead Hippie

Jenny is a hippie at heart, so we finished our evening at Dead Hippie Brewing, this brewery is right across the street from our place.  Super hippie vibe, good beer, and a ton on pinball fun.  Thanks for the great weekend Jenny – it was a blasty!!
